After a restful night, we set off early. The first stop is again the Mount Barnett Roadhouse. There we buy bread ($20!!!) and use the mobile reception to update the blog and check emails.

After breakfast, we drive just a few kilometers to Galvans Gorge. It is very close to the road and can be reached on foot in 20 minutes. That’s probably why it’s often crowded. When we arrive, there are quite a few people, but soon enough the crowd thins out and we have some time to ourselves. Galvans Gorge is very small, but absolutely charming.

Fortunately, Birgit's adventurous spirit takes over and she sets out on a quest to find a way to the top of the waterfall. And she succeeds. I would have never climbed up there, but I only had to follow her tracks. The view from the edge of the waterfall is exhilarating, and Birgit spots a long lizard that seems to be enjoying the water.

After descending, we take a second dip and shower under the waterfall. Now it is wonderfully peaceful and enchanting.

A few kilometers further, we leave the Gibb Road towards Adcock Gorge. The drive is quite rocky and bumpy. At a few points, we have to be very careful, so we are relieved to finally arrive.

After a small snack, we set off. The path is not far, but you have to climb over a lot of rocks and wade through the water. A few people come towards us, but when we arrive there, we are once again alone. This is the best way to absorb the atmosphere of such places. The water shimmers emerald green and invites for a swim.

On the way back, Birgit looks for more turtles; we had already seen one on the way there. But no luck; instead, there is an Australian crocodile on a rock, seemingly unimpressed by us. A lovely end to the adventure.

Along the way, we also see plenty of cattle by the roadside as well as two kangaroos.

We spend the night at the Imintji Aboriginal Community camping site. It is beautifully located at the foot of a ridge. After 7 pm, complete tranquility falls over the well-frequented campsite. By candlelight, we enjoy the wonderful starry sky.
