Our campsite has a well-kept grassy area with picnic tables. This is an opportunity for a little back exercise. Usually, you're standing in the dust here, so you don't want to lie down.


After a bit of conversation with our neighbors, we set off towards Bell Gorge. The 30 km drive along the Gibb begins promisingly, but the road soon becomes increasingly worse. In the end, it's nothing too wild; you just make very slow progress.


The short path to the waterfall is rocky but comparatively easy. Due to the rainfalls, the creek above the waterfall carries a lot of water. It's beautiful to look at but difficult to cross. The combination of slippery stones and the current pulling at our legs challenges us all. Using all five legs (yes, even the backside has to go into the water), we manage to get through unscathed.


The trail to the base of the waterfall is very steep and rocky. However, the climb doesn't take long and is really fun. The water looks very inviting, and swimming in this setting is a dream. The water here is particularly refreshing. And since there's a light breeze, we don't feel the need for further cooling off. We simply lie around on the polished rocks and enjoy the view.


Of course, we’re not alone here. Bell Gorge is said to be the most popular gorge along the whole Gibb. And we are here at the best time of day! I don’t feel the true essence of nature, but I’m definitely deeply impressed. Especially when you’re lying in the water and looking at the
