After waiting forever, I finally received the application from my host mother, in which her letter to me, pictures of her and the family, and other information like the exact location of the house, etc., are included.
Until that point, I didn't know what she looked like or how old she was, etc. I only knew her name (Pamela). I was somewhat forced to accept the placement without knowing who I would be spending the year with. Now I finally know.
I won't upload any photos of her because I can't be sure if my host mom would agree. But I can tell you she looks incredibly nice and warm-hearted. My three older host sisters also come across as super friendly and open-minded in the pictures. Before receiving the application, I only knew that they had two dogs and now I know that they're two cute Golden Retrievers.
In addition, there were pictures in her application that showed what my room looks like. It's quite small but with a huge bed - typical American. I also have my own bathroom. I'll set everything up nicely when I'm finally there.
The letter my host mother wrote to me was so sweet. She gives me (and my Spanish host sister) a lot of freedom, has a lot planned for us, but also assigns us responsibilities like taking the dogs out and taking out the trash.
I'll write an email to my host family in the next few days and I'm curious to see what they will reply. We'll probably Skype at some point, and that's what I'm most excited about somehow. It's a strange feeling to talk to the person over Skype who you practically don't know but will be spending a whole year with.
I'm sooo incredibly excited and just want to go to the USA already. Hopefully, everything will work out as planned, if not, it would be really bad. After all, it's the only opportunity for me to do the year abroad because I can't go after 11th grade.
Hopefully, I'll find out soon what my Spanish host sister looks like.
Thanks for reading
