Day 11: Sunday 12/08/2018 Wild Atlantic Way (Kinsale - Castletownshend)

Published: 13.08.2018

This morning we woke up around 9:00 am and went for breakfast. There was a small buffet and the host brought some delicious treats personally. After giving us some tips, he bid us farewell very kindly. First, we went to Blarney. There, the Blarney Castle is surrounded by a beautiful extensive garden. However, since the rain surprised us a little, we didn't stay there for too long. After treating ourselves to a hot chocolate or coffee, we continued to Kinsale. The small fishing village is known for its good restaurants and colorful houses. It is also where the Wild Atlantic Way starts. The Wild Atlantic Way stretches over 2,500 km along the west coast of Ireland. The coastal road begins in Kinsale, County Cork and ends in County Donegal, in the north of Ireland. It is considered one of the longest and most beautiful continuous coastal roads in the world. Today, we drove from Kinsale to Castletownshend. We will spend the night there, near a cliff and an abandoned tower.

Insight of the day: When it looks like rain in Ireland, it rains!
