A peaceful day before the start of the conference…
A small stroll in the lively district of Plaka, located right next to the Acropolis, gave me a good overview of the many tourist offerings. The area has a hectic charm with its narrow streets and rows of shops and restaurants 😉
In the evening, the 32nd Annual Meeting of the European Association of Archaeologists (EAA 2026) was officially opened.
I then headed to the central building of the National and Kapodistrias University of Athens for the Opening Ceremony and subsequent Welcome Reception.
Over wine and appetizers, I was able to reconnect with a few colleagues 😊
The next three days will once again focus on archaeology, but in the form of many lectures, including my own, and discussions instead of ancient ruins 😉
