Our host family took us to a 'Feira Livre' today, a street market with a variety of food. For us Germans, the market was an unusual experience. It is very loud. The smell of fish, which has been lying on the tables for hours at 35°C, penetrates your nose. On the side of the road, blood from garbage bags containing fish and meat flows into the sewer, and crates and waste are everywhere, while the vendors loudly try to sell their last goods. You can try almost anything here. Fruits, vegetables, snacks, sweets, etc. Among the stalls, you will often find people selling cooked food.
After arriving home with a few bags, we rested for a few hours because we had plans for the evening. We all dressed up and went to a Bloco, a street party during Carnival, to sing and dance (or at least watch the others do it).
