We spent the weekend relaxing with Brazilian barbecue with friends and soaking up the sun at the beach.
Today is Manu's 9th birthday (she is the daughter of our host parents in Rio de Janeiro). So we took the opportunity to visit some beautiful places in Rio. Our first stop was Parque das Ruinas in Santa Teresa. The park and the ruins of the villa used to be privately owned and are now a public cultural center with a museum and park. The whole area is beautiful and the tower of the former villa offers an incredible panoramic view. After that, we stopped at a bar for lunch and then continued to Mirante Dona Marta viewpoint. After several more photos and incredible views, we went to a small waterfall near Cristo Redentor. Elder took a quick outdoor shower and then we went to our last stop: Manu's grandma's house. We celebrated her birthday there with her family, friends, and lots of food until late in the evening when we happily and exhaustedly went home.
