Khao Sok National Park

Published: 12.09.2024

To conclude our time together, we visited Khao Sok National Park, located in the southern inland of Thailand.

We booked a 2-day tour with an overnight stay in the national park. The nature there is truly impressive, with mountains and cliffs steeply rising out of the water. We spent a lot of time traveling through the national park on a longtail boat, and the environment here reminds me very much of the Phi Phi Islands in Thailand, where I was last year.

My highlight of the short trip was a hike through the jungle! There were various monkeys, wild elephants, and bears. Fortunately, we only saw monkeys and elephants from a distance, and the bears did not show themselves. Walking through such a jungle is so beautiful because you perceive it with all your senses. You hear so many birds and insects, you walk through the mud (not ideal with our footwear, but we managed to overcome that anyway ;) ), and you see so many butterflies, different trees, shrubs, and plants. It was truly wonderful to experience!

We also visited a stalactite cave, went kayaking, and of course did a lot of swimming. At night, swimming is not allowed here because pythons and monitor lizards hunt in the water.

On the second day, after the tour ended, we traveled to Phuket and spent our last evening there relaxing.

Right now, I am sitting alone on the bus to Koh Lanta, an island south of Krabi. I said goodbye to the others, and now we are no longer traveling together! I am very grateful for the time spent with the others; we truly had a wonderful time together, and it will definitely be an adjustment not having someone around all the time. It feels a bit empty right now, but once I am at the beach and settled in a bit on my own, that feeling will pass!
