A year ago at this time, we were stuck in lockdown in Malaysia - with no idea how and when our journey would continue. We never thought that a year later we would be enjoying the sun on the Pacific coast of Mexico.
For over 2 weeks now, we have been here on the west coast of Mexico, in the town of Sayulita.
The hotspot for surfers is really a corona bubble. You rarely see people wearing masks here, bars, restaurants, and hotels are open. Especially during Semana Santa (Easter week), the town is full of American tourists. It feels like we have traveled back in time before Corona. The overcrowded beach is reminiscent of Ballermann and the streets are so busy that even the ATMs no longer dispense enough cash.
In the last few days, we have more or less avoided the hustle and bustle and explored the beautiful beaches south of Sayulita. Since we have met some fellow travelers here again, it was a great reunion, with the occasional picnic at sunset.
After the extensive road trip, our days are now a bit calmer. We both work a lot and enjoy the beach and the sea in the afternoon. We will spend some more time on the west coast here, and you will find out where our journey takes us next time.
See you later!
