Yesterday evening it snowed again.
And the tent was also covered in snow all around, which I then knocked off from the inside.
Then, I hung up all the stuff, tent, sleeping pad, and sleeping bag to dry.
And I will try to move away from the campsite around 1 pm.
For those who want to know how Peggy-Shakira travels.
And this is how my day continues.
Did I mention that it is 1 pm and already pitch dark... I should mention it at some point.
That was the first person who gave me a ride today, just a short distance, to Alta.
After that, I had to wait a bit longer until someone picked me up.
She was a, let’s say, young hunter who talked a lot about hunting her first moose.
Then she dropped me off in a small town with a beautiful Norwegian church.
Unfortunately, it was closed. Even though the lights were on inside.
The stupid thing was that it snowed a bit more here. So I waited again and continued walking until someone gave me a ride.
An older man who, let’s say, couldn't speak English, which made communication a bit difficult. But luckily, I know the following words in Norwegian: Hei, fjellravn (mountain raven), forstad (suburb), Nordkapp, elg (moose), and hardeba.
Boom, we had a conversation about fishing.
And then he dropped me off in the middle of nowhere.
And that in the snow with visibility up to my shoes.
After walking around in complete solitude there. Since a car passes by here maybe once a year, it took ages for me to leave.
I was even thinking about ringing the doorbells of houses I saw because the lights were on or the TV was on. Yeah... apparently that's normal here. No one is home, but all the lights are on. I was even on the verge of calling someone just so I wouldn't walk around so lonely. Where literally no one is and because it's so dark, you can't see much. In Germany, I would turn off the light because the snow reflects so well and you can see a lot. Not here, here you see no more or less, it's just dark.
Eventually, two women gave me a ride. Both were from London.
The one with long hair is here or doing dog training and dog sports entertainment school... or something like that. And they are in the process of getting huskies as sled dogs and want to gradually get 7-10 of them soon.
Now, around 6 pm, I'm sitting here at a small rest stop and eating something. A hamburger... vegetarian would only be the chocolate... so I guess I'll have to go for meat again.
Since I haven't accomplished much today either, I'm considering whether to slowly walk towards Tromsø in the night (hahaha, it's always night here) or look for something nearby. We'll see, nothing is decided yet.
Oh man, what a day or rather night. After leaving the rest stop, it really started.
There I was, continuing along the E6.
This is how the way back to the 'city' looked like. Even though it was dark, you can imagine it like in the first Rambo film where he walks along this long road at the beginning and there's nobody else around. That's exactly how it was.
After it stopped snowing, it started raining.
Then it happened, something unimaginably terrible. Peggy-Shakira fell out of my pocket... Panic... Breathless... Blood pressure rises!!!1111!!!!!!11!!!
I ran back and there it was, lying in a puddle...
I immediately took it in my arms and squeezed it. It was filled with water.
Then I continued through the boonies... it was around 9 pm and no car, nothing. At some point, I stood next to the last house and wanted to ask if I could sleep in the garden. In the end, I didn't.
But somehow I also thought, I should see the Northern Lights again.
And so it was.
Since no one was driving there anymore and it was completely dark and starry, I saw them too. I walked with them for over 2 hours. Of course, I tried to take photos, but it was just black.
It was really breathtaking. At first, there were only a few, where I thought it was a strange cloud, but then more and more, the cloud started to move. And it spread across the entire sky. There were a few long 'rays' passing over me and moving slightly, others were shorter and came and went. The sky was lit in a light green. It was really cool.
As I walked for so long, I eventually reached the point where the lights were behind me and a car stopped right away.
Before, I had called a campground for RVs to ask if I could just pitch my tent there. Yes, the boss will be here in a few hours. And it was this boss who picked me up.
When we arrived at the campground, she said I could also sleep in one of those cabins. Well... I don't have enough money. On the way up the little hill, the car got stuck because it was so slippery. We got out and walked the remaining 15 meters.
When we arrived, she said, you pay 15€ and that's it. Ok... it's just stupid that I don't have cash... I was about to just leave again. Then she said, you can also sleep in one of the cabins, yeah but no money, oh come on, just do it. Do you see that cabin?
Yep, you can sleep there. It's free. I thanked her a thousand times and went to the accommodation.
Small but cozy 😊.
I arrived around 12 am and could sleep in warmth and dryness.
But I realized that Peggy-Shakira fell out of the backpack pocket and is probably still in the car... well... now she's gone. I was hoping to see the woman again tomorrow. But I wasn't granted that.
