Arthur's Pass

After Christmas, we went to Arthur's Pass towards Christchurch. The bus had a steep climb behind it...


And needed a short break to tackle the bridge with a 16% gradient.


The journey was worth it.

Devil's Punchbowl Falls



Now a little search game... Find Marian! :)


The next day, our legs and feet had to do some work. We headed to Avalanche Peak.

Over roots...


... and stones...


...past small waterfalls.

Continuing to climb higher.




Reached the top (1833 m high), time for a refuel.

Then enjoy the view...




... and observe Keas (mountain parrots).

Then it's time to go back down.


With a great view of the Devil's Punchbowl Falls.

After a hot shower, we ended the day at a campsite surrounded by thousands of lupines.
