Day 3 from Roncesvalles to Larossoaña

Wotae: 05.05.2019

After a rather restless night in the tent, our day starts again at 6 am.

Since Cairo is not allowed in the hostel, I decided to skip the shower and start the day fresh 🤣🤭 in my sleeping clothes, which I also slept in. The good thing about pilgrimage is that you can't look bad, no one is well dressed here 🤣👌

A quick snack from the vending machine and then we were off from the town of Roncesvalles.

The path was somewhat easier than the previous day. I already know many of the pilgrims here, so there are always conversations to be had.

After 21 km, I arrived in Zubiri. The weather was great, the sun was shining continuously from noon onwards.

After a short time and consideration of whether we wanted to stop there, I decided to continue hiking for another 7 km to the town of Larossoaña. We were ambitious and wanted to surpass our distance goal from yesterday 😎

After a total of 27 and a half km, we arrived in the aforementioned town.

There are many pilgrims on the way. Unfortunately, a large and cheap accommodation is currently closed. We quickly started looking for a room and succeeded. Unfortunately, it was quite expensive. We paid 55 euros per night for a room just for ourselves 😍!

It was worth the money! We deserved a night of sleeping alone without snoring and cold 😉

We went in search of food, happy and very tired. Since the town is quite small, there is only one supermarket. There, we met friendly pilgrims and sat in the sun for 2 hours 😊

It's always crazy how close you can feel to other people, even though they are strangers. This sense of community is incredibly strong! Everyone has their own little story that they carry and process.

So... now it's finally time to sleep 😘
