From San Fran to Solvang

Wotae: 18.10.2021

3.10. Breakfast is served in a café, then we drive to the entrance area of a racetrack to write and kill time until the Sixflags amusement park in Vallejo opens. ;) For $100, you can experience how dizzying it can be on 10 different tracks. I think this effect increases significantly with age... Nevertheless, we go on some tracks twice and have a great time!

It takes about 1.5 hours to drive to Peter and Natalia near Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. They have really agreed to accommodate us so spontaneously! Since we are a bit early, we stop at the Golden Gate Bridge Vista Point and look over the bridge and the city. The Nordströms have a townhouse with a garden, a cat, and a dog, and they are just as relaxed as they were at yesterday's wine tasting. We are allowed to take showers and get a room for the night. After that, we go with them and their middle son Alex and his girlfriend to the accommodation to eat. We talk a lot and have a great time.

4.10. After a "Swedish" breakfast, exchanging contact details (the Nordströms will come to Munich next fall and probably visit us as well), we already say goodbye to our new friends and beautiful San Fran... The journey continues and ends today in Solvang. Solvang is a recreated Danish village near Los Angeles. Six years ago, when we were in the States together for the first time, we visited this place at the beginning of our trip and again on Roman's birthday. It has hardly changed and is still quaint and worth a visit. We take a shopping tour and eat out twice, including at "First and Oak," which has a Michelin star. For American standards, it is really good cuisine, but not outstanding compared to Switzerland. We sleep in a side street not far from the restaurant.
