On my last day in Bansko, I decided to venture into the Pirin Mountains, which I have mentioned several times before. I planned to climb the highest peak in this mountain range, Mount Vihren, which stands at 2914 meters. The crucial question of the day was whether my willpower and endurance would be enough to ascend to such an impressive height, considering that I have rarely ventured above 2000 meters in my life.
As you can see from the pictures, I successfully made it all the way to the top. However, the irony of the situation is that there is a mountain road that takes you up to an altitude of over 1800 meters by car. The ascent was challenging, and the descent was even more difficult for me. My aching legs reminded me of the experience for the following five days in a very unpleasant way. Nevertheless, the experience of reaching the summit was another unforgettable highlight in my travel chronicles.
