Hey guys, yesterday afternoon I arrived in Thailand on the island of Koh Lanta. To acclimate and fight jet lag, I spent the first night in a hotel. I even treated myself to a 5-star hotel here, as the night here cost exactly the same as the night in the cheap Airbnb apartment in the Seychelles. Following the motto: A little luxury is allowed even during volunteer work.
I really enjoyed sleeping in a nice big bed again, having a pool (which I can also use), and above all, having good food again instead of always eating canteen meals on the island.
The hotel was really nice, but I have to say that personally I would have given the hotel a 4-star rating rather than 5-star, based on German standards. Nevertheless, for me, it was pure luxury after 4 weeks in the volunteer accommodation in the Seychelles.
After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, I packed my bags and took a taxi to the project. Here, I am staying in a communal accommodation with about 10-15 other volunteers in twin rooms. My roommate is also from Germany. There are a few more people from Germany here as well. It was a lot of new things for me, and I am still a bit overwhelmed with everything. Tomorrow is my first day of work here, then I will write to you again about how everything goes here.
Until then
Your Alex
