Even though it doesn't look like it in all the photos, it rained quite a bit in Jirisan National Park! We hiked to a summit located on the edge of the park, Jirisan, the second highest mountain in South Korea, but unfortunately, we didn't get to see it. Nevertheless, it was a beautiful tour through bamboo and mixed forests. Supposedly, the park is home to black bears, and we were constantly warned about them. So the hike felt a bit like a safari adventure, even though the biggest animal we encountered was a chipmunk... Towards the end of the hike, we reached the Buddhist Hwaeom-sa temple complex, which was built in 544 AD and has been maintained and expanded over the centuries. Thankfully, they were selling various drinks to tired tourists, so we were able to recover from the hardships of the hike with some iced coffee :-)
