Epigraphical Museum

The Epigraphical Museum in Athens showcases all the significant documents of ancient Greece. Stone stelae served as writing surfaces for recording laws, contracts, tribute lists, and other important societal documents. Additionally, there are written inscriptions on victory stelae, gravestones, and shards of pottery or bronze tablets. Some artifacts feature ancient forms of Greek writing, such as the Linear B script from the 13th century BC. A stone stele with the famous laws of Draco can also be viewed.
The museum is located in the south wing of the Archaeological Museum of Athens and is accessible through a separate entrance. The staff at the museum truly deserve gratitude for their efforts to make as many artifacts as possible available to the public. A visit is definitely worthwhile, and it is an uplifting experience to admire the significant witnesses of ancient Greek history.
