After freezing weather and a cold, we had enough and longed for sun and sea. Therefore, we decided to head south to sunny Vancouver Island. Fully motivated, we started on the Alaska Highway and saw many wild animals. Bison, moose, horses, bears, and even a sneaking puma!
After about 1000 kilometers, we came to an unexpected bridge closure, where an accident with a tanker truck occurred the night before. 1000 kilometers from the destination, we had to turn around and take a detour of 1500 kilometers. The motivation was low.
Exhausted, we finally arrived at the ferry port and witnessed a beautiful sunset by the sea. After a 2-hour drive, we arrived on the sunny island and the world was back in order.
The next day, we went straight to Tofino for surfing. An unforgettable experience for Roman. Interestingly, we met a nice couple, Lea and Amadeus, and spent a lovely evening together.
After a too long sunbathing, we were looking forward to a short walk among 5000-year-old cedars and Douglas firs. The energy was truly palpable. To gather ideas for future projects, we visited the botanical garden in Victoria. $75 for admission scared us off, but it turned out to be worth it. A must for any garden lover!
After 5 days of relaxation on the island, the travel bug caught us again, and we decided to return through the USA.

Next stop: Yellowstone National Park
