Tuesday the 24th til Monday the 30th of December: After arriving in Wellington, we treated ourselves to a nice Christmas dinner: Oysters 😊 The next two days I went to the beach, watched the new Star Wars, visited the Te Papa museum and laughed tears playing cards against humanity... a perfect Christmas (as perfect as it could be without being with my family)! On the 27th (at 2:30 am!) we took the ferry to Picton, crossing over to the south island. A beautiful and winding road took us to Nelson, where we stayed three nights at palace backpackers, a very cosy hostel. We did day trips into Abel Tasman National Park, joined by Sacha, another backpacker from the UK. The hikes in the national park were so beautiful, with lush green forests, coastal vistas and turquoise bays. On Monday we drove to Westport, where we would spend new years. The route there spoiled us again with great views. We visited the Buller George Swingbridge, the longest swing bridge in New Zealand (no jumping of course 😋).
