Island Tag 1: Arrival to Hirtshals/Denmark

The ICE Frankfurt-Hamburg is so crowded that a second train is being used in Kassel and passengers without a seat are asked to change trains. Fortunately, I had a seat even without a reservation.

In Hamburg, we do it like at the airport, I stand at the parking lot, Susanne brakes briefly, I jump into the passenger seat and off we go. She had already loaded my luggage into the car a few days before in Frankfurt, and over the Corpus Christi weekend, I spent a few wonderful days with P on the Isar, Ammer, and Loisach rivers in a kayak or in a VW bus.

The drive from Hamburg to Hirtshals is very pleasant thanks to the speed limit on the Danish motorway. It's also pleasantly cool, not even 20°. At one point, we get caught in a thunderstorm with hail so heavy that you can hardly see anything even at low speed. But in Tornby near Hirtshals, the sun shines even more beautifully.

Munchs Hotel Tornby, very nice double room with balcony, approx. 110€, fantastic fish restaurant.
