Mein Dolmetscher Massa and Family

In the second week, when an ORF team with Margit Maximilian, a cameraman and a technician moved into the hotel, it was possible, if we could get out of the hotel, to send photos and films from any point on earth. As there were always rumors that the hostages would be freed., we had to be ready to leave at any time. So I could take a translator with Massa after consulting with the courier. Before I left for home, I asked Massa if it would be possible to visit his family to see how he lived. With joy he stammered 'Walter, no one has ever asked me that'. So I was invited for a meal. There was chicken with rice. I got a knife and fork while he and a friend ate with their fingers. The women were not allowed to eat with us. There was beer as well. After the meal, he lit a joint, which seemed completely normal. But I declined, because I actually didn't want to try it. After the meal, we visited the market. Because it was my last day. and there were no signs of the hostages being freed in the foreseeable future.
