The arrival

Arrival in Egypt

The alarm clock rings at 3:00 am because we are not starting from Cologne as planned, but from Düsseldorf.

At 5 o'clock we stand in line at the airport and, after finally arriving at the counter, we are told to pay €60 for 4 kg of excess baggage. According to the fine print, we are only allowed to take 15 kg per person. We decide to use the plastic bag as carry-on luggage and repack in front of the counter.

(Those who can read have an advantage, but dealing with fine print will continue to accompany us on the journey😫)

We land in Hurghada. The next line is where vaccination certificates are half-heartedly checked, then to passport control, and then you have to pay a visa fee of €32 per person (only in cash... hahaha... €2 bills seem to only exist here) even though it says everywhere that the visa costs €25. As we later find out, we paid €7 for a bottle of water and a SIM card (which, by the way, doesn't work), and we are informed that we will unfortunately not be taken to Luxor today (because they didn't know when we would land... hahaha).

For this, anyone who looks at your suitcase here is asking for a tip.

So transfer to our hotel in El Gouna. We are 2 out of a total of 40 guests. This means that there is not really anything to eat (we only have all-inclusive) and we haven't eaten anything since this morning. We find a bar that looks dark and closed and at least get some dry bread with cheese and a coffee.

The room is so-so and the view is of some backyard.

So we look forward to dinner as the highlight of the day. Mmhhhh..... what should I say, 3 dishes to choose from after the cold soup appetizer. Okay, that's the highlight so far. We'll just enjoy the hotel drinks.

Tomorrow we will go to Luxor, we will be picked up at 7 am.

Oh, and it's bitterly cold here. About 15 degrees and chilly wind. No shorts😫

Photos will follow later as we have no data volume.
