On Monday, February 19th, we arrived in Bangkok after another very relaxed flight, where we once again had a row of four seats to ourselves. There we were greeted by Christopher, and of course, everyone was very happy to see each other again. (-: Together, we continued on to Ko Samui, where you land at a great little open airport. The transfer to the hotel also went smoothly and so we arrived on the first island. A wonderfully beautiful hotel with two adjacent rooms right by the pool, which were even connected by a separate door, would be our home for the next three nights. We managed to enjoy the wine that we toasted to our vacation in Thailand, but then we also fell asleep in bed after this very long (travel) day.
The next few days were marked by an excellent breakfast, lots of relaxation in the sun on the beach and by the beautiful infinity pool, happy hour at the pool bar, delicious food in the small "street kitchens or local eateries," beers on the terrace by the pool, as well as visits to a night market and strolling through the colorful city.
Despite the wonderful hotel on Ko Samui, we were somehow looking forward to Ko Tao and the booked haadtien Beach Resort with its own little hut right on Shark Bay. So on Thursday we took the ferry to Ko Tao, where we were greeted at the small, crowded and bustling harbor and shortly afterwards checked into our accommodation. A dream: palm trees as far as the eye can see, our own in the garden (okay, the garden was the beach;), the sound of the sea all the time, a view of the sea from the bed or from the veranda... it couldn't get any better! Oh wait.. we could start snorkeling right from the beach, where we could observe numerous reef sharks and giant sea turtles.. once again it was simply amazing, beautiful, great and impressive! 🐢😍
Beach and snorkeling from morning to evening, dining by the sea, happy hour cocktails or beers.. almost like a vacation! 😉 The boat tour around the island was also very worthwhile. Although the sea was sometimes quite rough, we made great snorkeling stops, where we observed a smaller turtle, swam through a huge school of thousands of fish, and saw wonderful reefs with numerous anemones and clownfish. Magnificent!
On Monday, we took the ferry from Ko Tao to Ko Phangan, once again a very rough crossing, where we had another accommodation right on the beach, although not quite as luxurious and special as on Ko Tao, but still very nice. Here we continued with beach, relaxation, pool, beers, resting, reading, cooling off in the pool and sea, and incredibly delicious food in this small town in a small food court. Amazingly delicious cuisine in Thailand, even though calling it cuisine is sometimes a bit of an exaggeration (see photo;), but it was so delicious! 😙👌
Now we still have the exploration of Bangkok on the agenda, before we return to Germany, where we are already looking forward to our family and friends.
