Day 2: Porlock-Lynton

This morning we were surprisingly fit, stocked up on Pastis and set off in Porlock at 11 am. By the way, we have our luggage transported - worth every penny! ...and only walk with daypacks. ;-) First we went to Porlock Weir, a small harbor village in the Porlock Bay. Then the ups and downs of the day began, up and down... :-((( A small highlight was the little Culburne Church in the middle of the mountains. Lovely.

After Sisters Fountain, Lynmouth was still signposted with 7 miles - clearly too much for me, as I had read that there is a way to the next bus stop. :-P Tina was still motivated, so our paths separated for a while. First, I had to find the right path to the road, not so easy as it went relentlessly uphill. Once at the top, at the old border house "County Gate" of Somerset and Devon, I noticed that there is no network, but a young man could help me further - bus 300 no longer runs. So hitchhiking was on. But no problem, the British are friendly, the second car stopped, a woman who was just returning from the flea market. I arrived in Lynmouth around 6 pm. Lynmouth is down in the valley, Lynton is up on the hill. The Rock Railway, which I was looking forward to, was no longer running. So all I had left was the pub to wait for Tina... ;-)
