On day 8, the weather was perfect, lots of sunshine and a clear view of the ocean.

This paid off directly at the first stop in Port Orford, besides a beautiful bay, we also saw whales for the first time. Here and there, a fountain rose in the distance, which we watched with enthusiasm.

The State Park Samuel H. Boardman is located between our destination and Port Orford. It offers numerous viewpoints

with a great view of the rugged coastline.

In the afternoon, we reached the upper part of Redwood National Park. A short stop at the visitor center and off we went on our first hike. We chose the Boy Scout Trail, at the end of which one of the world's largest trees awaited us. The fairly long hike of about 3.5 hours was definitely worth it.

Outlook for day 9: Another day in Redwood National Park.
