Day 11: San Francisco

ޝާއިޢުކޮށްފައިވެއެވެ: 26.09.2016

San Francisco, the second metropolis on our tour is up next. We ordered tickets for a 'Hop on hop off' bus tour and set off to explore.

The first stop was Civic Center, where we saw the City Hall, the Asian Art Museum, and the Public Library.

We continued on to Jazz Center and then to Haight-Ashbury. This neighborhood gained fame in the 60s through the hippie movement. Even today, Haight is a meeting place for the 'counter culture'.

A street away, we found the Golden Gate Park and the California Academy of Science. In the picture, you can see the De Young Memorial Museum, a nice-looking building :)

What would San Francisco be without the Golden Gate Bridge and the view of Alcatraz :)

We decided to include Sausalito in our tour, so we headed straight there. The architecture suggests the roots of this small town -> Spaniards settled here in the 18th century.

Another MUST in San Francisco is Fisherman's Wharf. Sea lions gather at Pier 39 and it's like a carnival :D

Unfortunately, the day went by too quickly and we have to leave San Francisco behind.

On Day 12, we bypass San Francisco to rejoin Highway #1. We cover a lot of miles because there is still a lot to see on the way to LA and the days are running out :D

Greetings
Steffi and Axel
