We have now spent a week in Sydney.
In addition to the typical Sydney sightseeing such as visiting the Opera House and taking a walk over the Harbour Bridge, we also explored the surroundings of Sydney with a rental car.
On the first day, we drove through charming villages and Kangaroo Valley. There was a lot to see in terms of landscapes - beautiful coastlines, deep forests, and Wild West-style villages. Besides the impressive scenery, we also had exciting encounters with a wombat, a peacock, alpacas, and many colorful birds.
On Saturday, the thermometer showed an incredible 45 degrees, and the wind was as hot as a hairdryer.
In the news, the authorities warned of new fires due to the heat, so we contemplated whether we should actually drive up to the Blue Mountains. We finally decided to do so and did not regret the decision for a moment. The view that awaited us up there was truly worth it. However, we couldn't stand the temperatures for long as they drained us.
We ended the evening at a soccer game in Sydney's stadium. The relaxed mentality of the Australians was reflected there. It was so stress-free, no hooligans, hardly any police, and no shouting. You can comfortably sit on the grass with your own picnic and watch the game. Even as a non-football fan, I really enjoyed it.
The following days we enjoyed together, as our time together was coming to an end. On Monday evening, his plane flew back home. The time we spent together gave me new energy and strength, even though I was initially overwhelmed by homesickness after saying goodbye.
However, I was able to distract myself from it, because Tamara and I continued to Melbourne on Tuesday morning.
There, we will start our final tour with the camper through Australia before heading to New Zealand.
Until Sunday, we will drive the Great Ocean Route all the way to Adelaide.
