Travel to Kish

The first thing that caught our attention was the small airport. Exactly when we arrived, we felt the heat through our clothes. The island looked clean and the streets were decorated with palm trees.

After leaving our suitcases and checking in at the hotel, we went for a relaxation from the one-hour flight from Tehran to Kish to the Simorgh Park.

The Simorgh Park is a public park by the sea with playgrounds, a driving route, and barbecue areas. We rented bicycles there and rode through the park on the bike path, which was very enjoyable. We had a wonderful view of the sea throughout the ride, the sun rays were warm, and a cool breeze cut through the heat.

Next, we took a taxi to the Hook Lounge Restaurant, which was recommended to us by the hotel manager. This restaurant is located in the city and partly on the sea. We enjoyed a delicious Italian dish on the sea. The prices were higher compared to other restaurants, but the food, service, and view were definitely worth it. We recommend it if you like luxury.

In the city, several shopping malls were noticeable. It was annoying that the malls were closed from 1 to 4 p.m. due to the heat. In the late afternoon, we visited the newly-built Roya Mall, which was not very recommended as the stores were limited and the mall was small. Since we didn't like it that much, we walked to the Pardis Mall, which was nearby. The Pardis shopping mall had a much better selection and was bigger. There, we bought sweets and chocolates that were very delicious and affordable.

We chose the Toranj Hotel, which is built on the sea. The special feature of the hotel is that part of the room floor is made of glass, so you can see the ocean floor. Our room was very clean, the service was neat and polite, and the view was breathtaking. It is well suited for a high budget and luxury lovers, but for those on a smaller budget, a hotel in the city, which is cheaper, would be more suitable. An example would be the Iran Hotel in the city. The Toranj Hotel is one of the best hotels in Iran, but unfortunately, it was very far from the city center. The drive from the hotel to the city took about 20 minutes.

On the second day, we went to the women's beach to swim. As a reminder, the beaches in Iran are separated by gender, which was limiting for us. Also, taking a phone to the beach is not allowed. In spring, the sea water is most pleasant, and in summer, it is lukewarm.

At the beach, we had a dish called Ab Doogh Khiar, which was very delicious and refreshing. Ab Doogh Khiar is made with ayran, cucumbers, dry bread, raisins, walnuts, spices, and sesame. This is a local dish for cooling down and helps against heatstroke.

In the sea stands an old Greek shipwreck called greek ship, which has been stuck on the coast for about a hundred years because there was no lighthouse. Many tourists visit the ship, which can be visited for free, as it is a popular attraction on the island. Unfortunately, we found it regrettable that there still was no lighthouse.

Finally, we were at the Dolphinarium and got wet during the shows. We would recommend sitting in the back row so you don't get splashed by the dolphins.

All in all, Kish is a highly recommended travel destination in Iran. We would love to visit Kish again because we only spent a few days there. The island is small but clean and inhabited by very friendly people.
