Opening ceremony

After a training session was conducted at the speed venue, a kind of race simulation with individual drivers was on the program at the tech venue. The slopes and goalkeeping crew don't seem to be as well-rehearsed as they are in our ski races at Pizol. Virtually every goalkeeper was corrected in their position. The B-net crew stood somewhat helplessly with 2 rolled-out B-nets in front of the finish line and Hans Pieren was gesturing wildly, but without much success. This prompted us to pitch in for a moment and in no time the two nets were set up.

In the afternoon, we had the thankless task of dismantling a camera, as the podium still needs to be improved by the scaffolding builders. Since we were many helpers, this was done very quickly.

Back at the hotel, we were amazed to see people from Securitas and the Secret Services everywhere. Apparently, a high-ranking state official is present. Later it turned out that it was Trump's deputy minister.

For the evening, I managed to get myself a not quite cheap ticket for the opening ceremony. The journey there was quite spectacular, but I managed to arrive at the stadium on time. What happened next was simply fantastic and will be remembered for a long time. After the show, I was even able to go down to the stage and the organizing committee president thanked the performers. The making-off of the rehearsals was very impressive. The return trip was then with the media buses via IBC practically to the doorstep of my accommodation.
