Münster, devotion and small happiness Part 2

ޝާއިޢުކޮށްފައިވެއެވެ: 15.09.2019

Tender voices illuminate the Münster Cathedral. They echo through the arches, fill the figures with life, and make our four hearts beat deeply. By that, I mean a deep love that awakens in us while these beautiful words of devotion echo in this incense-soaked monument. Bright walls, high rooms impressively protect us from the outside world, St. Christopher stands beside us. We can't move and get carried along, 'sung into' this atmosphere filled with wonderful singing nuns. I think of my father. Our children hold their sheet music, only hum along. We look, listen, I sometimes cry, take my husband's familiar hand... It's good as it is, we participate and let ourselves be comforted, send greetings, wishes, and words out into the world. We stay where we are and absorb what comes our way. We haven't followed such a devotion for a long time and I have never heard such beautiful voices live that still echo in my ears when we arrive in the courtyard of the Münster and breathe in the wonderfully fresh air. It's almost spring-like again, the nuns also leave the cathedral. Some ride their bikes, others go in different directions. Probably each one goes home. The four of us really want to go to a café..

It's Sunday and it's quiet in Münster. A few photographers in the group practice portrait photography, other passers-by visit shop windows, travelers busy themselves from one monument to the next. We have arrived in the old town of Münster and have been invited by an enchanting shop window of a café to go inside. Yes, here you can find the right kind of filling food. Here you can have fine desserts and wonderfully scented coffee. Beautiful tiles on the floor and beautiful chalk writing on wooden walls make me pause to admire. Old stair railings lead along a spiral staircase up to a second floor, small wooden tables and benches invite you to linger and enjoy Münster on a few square meters. We settle down at a large solid wood table with a bench and a pretty bouquet in the middle.

We enjoy the fine confectionery and make plans. Finally, we decide to stroll through all the streets of the city. Next, we go to St. Lamberti Church. Actually, all buildings of this kind are somehow interesting and so I take some pictures.

It somehow looks like Amsterdam. I feel at home. We connect it with a very nice trip to Amsterdam from 2017. I indulge in memories... And I take many, many more pictures. It's quiet in the city and the weather holds up. It's supposed to rain only in the evening.

We stroll until the next appetite and stop for a meal. Unfortunately, say the children, everything is closed today because it's Sunday. At least we don't suffer from the cold and hunger, I say to them, and we set off again to the next little sights of this place on earth.

I have no connection to Münster, but it's very beautiful here, small and fine. We feel close to our Dutch neighbors. There are bicycles everywhere. I find it romantic.

We reach the end of the city tour, as there isn't much else to see. It's late afternoon by now and it starts to rain. We look forward to a nice dinner in the style of campers. So we take the next bus line towards the campsite. Once again, the rain accompanies us during the journey. That way we arrive dry. A meeting with the nearby relatives is planned for tomorrow.

'Your word is light and truth. It illuminates me on all my paths. Life and joy exist in my heart..'

For you, my dear father...
