Beach day! The weather was really great!☀️
In the morning we walked to the bakery and ate the breakfast we had just bought in the adjacent park. A lot of locals met there (presumably pensioners). I always think it's nice when people get together. Afterwards we took an Uber to Glyfada Beach. The price of an Uber is cheap for us. For less than 10 euros you can get through the entire city center of Athens.
The first impression of the beach was quite positive. Sunshades are available to bathers free of charge. It was not overcrowded (during the week). The water is absolutely clear, the beach a bit rocky. I did a few laps in the Mediterranean. However, the water was still quite cold. There are beach vendors here, but they are not as aggressive as elsewhere and will take a "no" for an answer. We didn't see any lifeguards. But Glyfada Beach is not all that big either. Since we have no comparison, it is difficult to compare this beach with another. In any case, we were satisfied.
Two well-built Texans were also on the beach a few meters ahead of us. The man was tall, stocky and of course wore a cap with the word "USA" written on it. I would have loved to ask: Biden or Trump?😁 But he always looked so sad/angry... I couldn't quite interpret the look.😅
In the evening we walked back into the city. The Acropolis appeared again. This view can be seen along our street, where we "always" eat. It borders directly on an archaeological site at the foot of the Acropolis. I'm always a little bit happy about it. 😃 The train even goes through here (not through the Acropolis😅).
We made ourselves comfortable in a rooftop bar and had a lovely meal and drink with a wonderful view of the Acropolis. Since we've eaten so much meat recently, we had pasta that evening - Elisa with salmon and I with Bolognese (basically meatless 😅). After that I ordered a gin ("Citadel") tonic. I just said to the waiter: "With that view I have to go to the Citadel" - we laughed a little. He's probably never heard that sentence before 😂. Elisa drank red wine - for the sake of completeness.
On the way home we passed this unique restaurant "Little Kook". The employees are dressed up and the atmosphere is a little crazy - like in a fairy tale. But unfortunately we had already eaten 🙈
Moreover: We didn't burn our fur! 😝
Best regards 😊
