Today we set off for Trier after a late breakfast on the beautiful terrace. It was hot anyway, so it didn't matter when we left :-) and indeed, the traffic jam downhill into Trier demanded a lot of fluid from us again! Fortunately, I was wearing light clothing, swimming trunks and a softshell jacket (of course with a t-shirt underneath, just for those whose imagination is running wild 😀) ... Gerhard stayed strong at first - with himself :-) In Trier, we made the most of the heat... and simply walked from one church to the next, taking our time to look around and cool down again to a normal temperature. We started with the cathedral:
I particularly liked the organ there... but unfortunately I couldn't hear anything :-(
And the design of the altar area was really wonderful, with the floor, altar and lectern all flowing together!
Even the ends of the church benches were lavishly decorated with inlays and carvings, each one different.
Then we continued to the Church of Our Lady... fortunately, the path was short (because HOT), the church is right next to the cathedral.
Then on to the Basilica of Constantine, where there is also a great organ with 89 stops and a very modern look.
The small choir organ matching the window front.
And then off to the Kaisergarten for a delicious ice cream.
Yes, it looks shady, but...
And back to the motorcycle we go. Gerhard didn't want to put on his motorcycle pants anymore... even though it was still below 40 degrees... but well, only just... I could understand him already :-)
We had already scouted out a nice swimming pool in Leiwen with a fantastic view of the Moselle bend:
We had a blast on the slide and had a lot of fun!
We drove back along the Moselle, we were hungry and didn't have the necessary stamina anymore for beautiful mountain roads. Besides, there were rumblings around Koblenz, and Gerhard was skeptical whether my weather app was right and the thunderstorm would not make its way to us (of course it didn't...).
Arriving at the hotel, we took off our pants that had become one with our skin (After cooling off at the swimming pool, we both agreed that safety was in order again...), headed to our room, and took a shower.
Now we are going to have a delicious dinner on the beautiful terrace with a wonderful view of Trier.
A little later like this...
See you soon, my dears!
