Lazy Day and philosophical conversations in the afternoon

Today we didn't really do much. The young horses had the day off and our two Icelandic interns went home. Karin and I only had one tour in the morning, where we had the pleasure of accompanying 2 nice Danish ladies and 2 Danish men on a ride in the beautiful sunshine. Even Yarl, who was difficult to catch yesterday, was easily caught today. Unfortunately, there was no wind this morning, so we had the usual issue with flies. But it didn't bother us much. After lunch, which consisted of fish patties, potatoes, and salad (we like to have something fresh once a week), Karin and I went to visit Chrissi for 2 hours. I had an espresso (very delicious) and then a cold beer. We had a nice chat about why each of us is here in Iceland. Interestingly, there are several German women here who are on a journey of self-discovery and exploration, trying to escape the daily grind back home or perhaps running away from a problem. I believe I am one of the few who are simply here to ride and relax. And even though every day involves a lot of physical work, I am truly enjoying my time here. And my family doesn't have to worry about me not using my return ticket. :-) It was really nice to meet Chrissi and I look forward to seeing her again. We spent the afternoon in the sun, and after the windy day yesterday, I actually got a light sunburn. Tonight at 8 o'clock we have another tour, and since we have German guests today, it's going to be fun.

The Jökull, the big grey horse, is a horse that I would love to own in Germany :-) But I won't take away the vastness of the land and the freedom he has here.
