One last post from us, this time already from home. Yesterday morning we landed back in Frankfurt, at 5:30 am the wheels of the A380 touched German ground and officially ended our journey :)
A great last experience, because I've wanted to fly with this giant Airbus for years. And what can I say, it was fantastic! The size of the plane is fascinating. And we even got to sit upstairs. I always thought that was only for the business and first class, but apparently there are also seats reserved for the economy class :) Besides several meals, we even managed to sleep relatively well this time, Nora even better than me. But I also managed a good 4 to 5 hours... on a 12-hour flight. Not bad. When we left the airport building, we were hit by the shock of the cold. Departing at 32 degrees, we were now in the slight negative range with snow. And that in fabric shoes and open sandals. Wet socks included! So it was even more enjoyable to enjoy the ride home in the car! Thanks again :)
Thus, another adventure comes to an end, which has shown us a bit more of the world. I'm curious what Nora will take away from it. Here are a few highlights of our trip:
Singapore, the first big city that really captivated me. Unlike Bangkok, it was super clean, child-friendly, organized, and easy to get around on foot and by train. The many free offerings in the midst of this otherwise (for Asian standards) quite expensive city fascinated me. The light show alone in the Gardens by the Bay is worth a trip!
The tea plantations around Tanah Rata. They will stay with me forever. This vastness and lush green in the Cameron Highlands were a successful contrast to the otherwise tropical hot climate.
The experience of traveling through a very Muslim-dominated country. In Malaysia, we hardly saw any women without headscarves, excluding tourists. But all the more women in full veil. Once a woman in a niqab sat next to us in a restaurant. Nora looked at her, thought about it, and then asked: Mama, how do these women actually eat? Hm, good question, because until then I hadn't seen a single one in a restaurant or asked myself that question. We then observed it. The face veil is simply folded to the side. Very unspectacular :)
The dream beach on Langkawi, which brought us a week of relaxation and a severe sunburn.
Driving scooters on the left side of the road. Nora and I really enjoyed being able to move freely around the island with our two-wheeler and explore the island at our own pace.
In general, it was wonderful to travel at our own pace again, to have no appointments, to be able to stay and rest wherever we like without having to consider others. This mama-child time is always incredibly good for us. But we both missed our family and friends and are happy to be back home now! And we already had our first mashed potatoes yesterday 😄
In this sense, until the next trip! :)
