31. August - Happy Birthday Sister-in-law - Ramberg

On the way to Ramberg we drive through Leknes, a slightly bigger town. We don't have any orders, so we decide to take a little walk, especially since the weather is once again a bit unstable, but at least dry. However, Leknes consists only of a shopping street, and people prefer shopping centers here, but they always seem to have the same things...!

We stroll around a bit, buy the essentials... beer... and also something to eat, refuel and off we go. The landscape here is still unbeatable and you have something to look at and admire all the time. We notice that no matter in which remote corner we come here, there is a motorhome or a caravan in every garden. I believe the Norwegians invented camping... not the Dutch...! Really unbelievable... we have never seen so many before.

At around 3:00 pm, we reach Beach Camp Skagen, a really beautiful campsite right on a white sandy beach. Once again, we do without electricity and can therefore park wherever we want. We park the bus on a small hill and have a great view of the sea, open a beer and toast to my sister's birthday... she allowed us to do that during our morning phone call, saying that we had a reason to have a beer again... she's right!

The weather becomes windier and rainier... time to observe... we laugh at glamping campers who move their car three times before it is really straight. A young couple who sleep in their white VW T-Roc with a roof tent measure the car with the spirit level on their phone... we laugh our heads off... how exhausting camping can be... our bus is somehow... ready!

In the evening, we are rewarded with a beautiful sunset...! After that, we have quick noodles in the bus and then it's off to bed. During the night, I wake up because the wind is blowing quite strongly through the bus. Jörni says he saw the Northern Lights and allegedly couldn't wake me up... well... I saw moose... he still hasn't seen the Northern Lights (although I saw them many years ago in Oslo... nya-nya-nya-nya-nya).

The next day, we are already sitting in the sun in front of the bus at 8 am, freshly showered, wonderful!

It's supposed to stay dry and we take the opportunity to finally wash our bedding, which I can barely get over the clothesline afterwards. The wind is so strong that I almost take off with the duvet cover. I have never laughed so hard hanging up laundry. I secure each piece with three or four clothespins.

We meet Jann and her son Lovis (6), they come from Greifswald and are on a camping holiday without a car... only with the bus, hitchhiking or on foot... we take our hats off to them!!! That's what we really call a camping holiday...! We hang out at the beach and take a walk to the little chapel after dinner, admiring the view over the landscape during the golden hour... magnificent!

The wind keeps increasing and when we are in bed, we sometimes startle abruptly because storm-like gusts hit the bus directly in the valley, causing it to sway! I reassure Jörni several times that the three tons surely can't be blown over... I'm not so sure... it's shaking so much...!

We fall asleep late and can still observe some people trying to rebuild their tents around midnight...! The night is restless, the storm continues, and the loud rain drums... no, hammers... deafeningly loud on the car roof...! Well then... good night!
