Day 48 - they see us rollin'

The clock shows shortly before seven and we are both wide awake. Today we have our cruiser tour on the Gold Coast. We have a hearty breakfast, not that we are very hungry, but our fridge needs to be emptied... In addition, we make ourselves a wrap out of the 2 remaining fajita wraps that we can take on our bike tour. Then it's time to pick up our cruiser bikes at the entrance of the campsite. The landlord brings them there for us. With bike, helmet, and route tips, we return to Vicky, because our used dishes need a scrubbing with detergent. Said and done. Then we get ready to cruise and off we go! We ride all along the coast to Burleigh Heads (12km) and make a stop on the rather crowded beach. We don't stay there long and ride back in the opposite direction - with a coffee stop in between. That can't be missed! Today with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream - that wakes up our spirits.

Back at the campsite, we quickly rearrange our backpack, buy something to drink, and zoom off again, this time heading north. There we ride off-road, in the forest, and sometimes even in the sand. However, the late afternoon heat is starting to bother us and we look for the nearest access to the sea. Bikes parked, locked, and into the pleasant water. Unfortunately, there is no time for cozy reading and drying in the sun. It is very windy, which stirs up the sand and sticks to our wet bodies. That's why we ride back to the campsite and treat ourselves to the tenth shower of the day.

It's dinner time. We try to use up as many leftovers as possible. That means we have a big vegetable stew with gnocchi and salad. As a conclusion to the day, we use our bikes again. Because we want to experience Surfers Paradise at night. It's quite busy, mostly bars, takeaways or restaurants, as well as souvenir and adventure shops. Since we had more than enough for dinner, we soon ride the 4km back. Due to the fog-like, salty mist in the air, we take the really last shower after arrival.

Tomorrow it's time for the last tour with Vicky and return in Brisbane...
