Today we have to get up a bit earlier again, as our flight to Sydney is scheduled shortly before noon. Sarah discovers the pancakes at the breakfast buffet, which put a big smile on her face. She quickly devours three of them - of course with fruits, chocolate powder, and coconut flakes. Back in the room, we pack our backpacks ready for the flight and drive the 15 minutes to the airport with Hector, who is now fully fueled. Skillfully, we throw the key into the unmanned box and drop off Hector. Within 15 minutes, we check in our luggage and pass through security. It's surprisingly quiet at 10:00 a.m... On the departure screen, we see that only three flights will depart from Alice Springs today. Ours is the first one at 11:50. The waiting time flies by with coffee and games.
Once installed in our seats on the plane, we notice two things: 1. there is no window in our row (otherwise there is one everywhere else). 2. the plane is only one-third full. So we quickly move one row forward, as it remains empty after boarding. Surprised by the video screen in front of us, we set a two-hour movie despite the short flight time (2 hours 20 minutes). Due to various announcements by the flight attendants, we don't manage to finish it.
After landing in Sydney, we quickly find our way around. Despite the short flight time, it's already 4:00 p.m. (1.5 hours time difference ;). We take the train to the city, where our Airbnb room is already waiting for us. After a little search, we found it. However, we are faced with a locked door. We have the code for the main entrance, but we don't see a keypad. To our surprise, the numbers only appear after touching a black field above the doorknob. A little magic never hurts.
The goal for today is to visit the City Tower with our tickets from our previous visit to Sydney. Upon arrival, the young lady scans our codes. Error message... A big red X appears. Unfortunately, these tickets expire after 30 days. We are exactly(!) one day too late. So we quickly buy new ones. 5 minutes later, we are standing on the 340m high Sydney Tower. The view is fantastic. It was worth buying new tickets.
We're hungry. It's already 7:00 p.m. Intentionally, we head to the Darling Harbours area. There we find an Italian restaurant right on the pier with delicious pizzas. To end the day, we take a walk around the (this time not fenced off) Opera House and treat ourselves to an ice cream.
