Good morning from Piraeus. We arrived just before sunrise, which we were able to enjoy during breakfast. Today's weather is also expected to be wonderful with temperatures reaching up to 28 degrees.
We have booked a trip to Athens today. Since this is 'Athens at your own pace', we were driven by bus to Athens city at 9:30 AM (about 30 minutes), and then we had a 6-hour stay at our leisure.
Upon arrival, the tour guide showed us the meeting point for the return trip and then accompanied us to the starting point for the Acropolis. We received a little travel plan and then slowly and leisurely made our way there. We did not go up the Acropolis but chose to take the route around it, as we thought it was quite expensive to go up there.
So, we leisurely set off, passing small walls, cute stalls, and a little ancient flea market. As we slowly approached the old town and wandered through the little streets, I spotted the Hard Rock Café Athens, and since my husband always takes a photo when he visits a new one, we, of course, did just that.
In a small alley, we discovered a little café where we stopped for a frappé and a water. Time passed quickly, and we looked for a nice small restaurant where we could have a typical Greek lunch.
Rejuvenated, we slowly made our way back towards the meeting point, stopping at a small ice cream shop. Even though a scoop of ice cream costs €2.80 here, I couldn't resist the Limoncello ice cream. After all, it's vacation. The bus back left at 4 PM, so we were back on the ship by around 4:30 PM, completely exhausted from all the impressions and walking.
This evening, Bingo was on the agenda. So we went to eat at Anckelmannsplatz and then settled into the gallery bar with a cocktail and a delicious apple strudel shot while we played Bingo.
Around 9:30 PM, my husband got hungry again, so we went to the Day & Night Bar. There, we had hamburgers with fries *laugh*
