Day 3: from Schin op Geul to Dinant

Boy, oh boy, what a night in the tent ... At some point, every anvil is an air cushion compared to my self-inflating air mattress. And in the morning, it was surprisingly chilly. Everything was packed and we headed towards Belgium at quarter past eight.

All gone
But first, we had to push: Holland actually has roads with a 22% gradient! Once we reached Keutenberg, we then rode into the 'Heuvelland' (Hill Country), a beautiful area with - have I mentioned this before? - amazing bike paths; numerous road cyclists thought the same.

Eventually, we reached the Belgian border and after a short time, we were in Wallonia. In Liège, we decided to ride through the Ardennes to Dinant instead of taking the longer route (although with significantly fewer meters of ascent) along the Meuse River.

A word about Belgian bike paths: Mönchengladbach-Rheydt is developing strongly in that direction.

The Ardennes welcomed us with steep ascents, further up it seems to be rather poor. Only towards Dinant, life came back to the villages.

The Ardennes have us in their grip.

In Dinant, we are staying on the street where Adolphe Sax invented the trumpet named after him.
