Today's wake-up call was at 7:00 am because if you want to hike, you have to get up early!
After a two-hour drive west, we arrived at Echo Point Lookout. From there, we had our first glimpse of the Jason Valley and a rock formation called the Three Sisters. After taking the first hundred photos and being amazed by the uniqueness of the view, we started our hike.
First, we descended the approximately 900 steps of the Giant Stairway into the valley. Once we reached the bottom, our paths separated from Hannah's uncle Erich. While he bravely climbed back up the stairs, the two of us continued along the Federal Pass, which runs along the valley. Along the way, we admired the different-aged eucalyptus trees, small springs, and the layers of rock in the orange-red sandstone walls.
Instead of taking the Scenic Railway like most tourists, we climbed back up the mountain via the Furber Steps Walk. Along the way, we passed by the impressive Katoomba Falls.
At the end of the trail, at the Scenic World Top Station, we met up with Erich again, who picked us up by car and then had sandwiches with us.
Before heading back to the city, we visited two beautiful lookout points: Evans Lookout and Govetts Leap Lookout. There, we not only enjoyed the view, but also admired the variety of Australian birds.
We arrived back in the city quite exhausted, where we made the final preparations for our big road trip.
Now it's just a matter of saying 'Goodnight!' so we're fit enough for the next big adventure!🤗
