Today we are finally going to Koh Mak. The boat departs for the island at 10:30 AM, we are supposed to be picked up at 10:00 AM (in theory, a great service).

We have breakfast, even though we didn't order any. Delicious cinnamon pastries, coffee, and freshly picked small bananas are served on the beautiful terrace overlooking the sea (well, it is low tide, so it's above the mud).

At 10:00 AM, we are sitting in front of our room in the driveway, waiting for the taxi. Punctual as can be, we're German after all. There is no sign of a taxi at quarter past. Jules goes to ask at 20 past. The woman doesn't speak English, so we communicate with gestures.

2 minutes later, a grandpa on a scooter drives up to the driveway 'Where do you go?' 'Koh Mak' and he's gone again, busily typing on his phone.

Another 2 minutes later, the taxi rushes to the guesthouse and takes us to the boat at 1000 miles an hour.

After a wild ride on the Leelawadee Speedboat, we arrive at the Ao Nid Pier on the dream island.

The hotel manager is already waiting there with a 'taxi'. We take a tour around the whole island before reaching the hotel and our first impression is great. Such a beautiful spot on earth.

We treated ourselves and booked an island suite. It costs as much as a mediocre hostel room in German cities and it's simply amazing. And the garden in front of the terrace, unbelievable!

We first explore the facility, nestled in a tropical garden, and then head towards the beach.

We are completely blown away here. We are truly in paradise! There is no one at the beach. Not a soul. In the distance, we eventually see a Japanese couple with a selfie stick, and then we have the whole beach to ourselves again. When we take off our flip-flops, we believe we know why the beach is so empty: the other people have spontaneously combusted. I've never put on flip-flops so quickly.

We decide to rent scooters the next day to explore the island. After dinner, we realize that the sounds on the island are like in a movie or theme park: lizards, insects, birds, dogs, cicadas, crickets, and sounds that you can't or don't want to identify. Unbelievable...
