Hi guys,
two more days and 800km of car ride towards the south have passed.
After having a really nice breakfast on our secluded mountain in the middle of nowhere with a great view, we soon hit the road. We decided to drive about 400km to the south. While listening to a really good podcast called "Gemischtes Hack" during the drive, time flew by and soon we arrived in "Rockhampton".
We refreshed ourselves with a coffee and planned the rest of the day.
Due to the outside temperature of 38 degrees Celsius, we were more inclined towards indoor activities, but eventually we motivated ourselves and went to the city zoo. Just like the last zoo we visited in "Bundaberg", the entry was free here as well, so it was a perfect opportunity to visit.
The zoo was great! Besides chimpanzees and amazing birds, we could even admire koalas up close, a wombat, and a 4.5m long and 650kg heavy saltwater crocodile, just to name a few.
We were absolutely thrilled!
Afterwards, I took the chance to use the public shower in a nearby park and then we headed to the camping site.
We ended the evening with a few rounds of Skip-Bo and soon went to bed.
This morning, it was so hot again that we decided to leave the camping site as soon as possible and take refuge in the air conditioning of our car. In the end, since no other store was open yet, we had our breakfast as cheap as possible at McDonald's! 🤦🏽♂️ After that, Ann-Estelle suddenly had to go to the supermarket. So we drove to the supermarket, everything was still fine for me, but when she suddenly asked me to stay in the car, it became mysterious! 🤔
I waited patiently and a short time later she came back. She asked me to close my eyes and get out of the car. When I was allowed to open them again, she had filled one of my shoes with treats, it was St. Nicholas' Day! 😳😍
I really didn't expect that at all and I was even more delighted with the gesture! 😊 Even one of the things I miss the most when traveling was in the shoe, a camembert cheese. Apart from the fact that it is almost priceless here, we couldn't refrigerate it either, so it was always off the shopping list. But since I had shared my longing with my attentive girlfriend, we now had "second breakfast" with toast and camembert cheese. It was fantastic, I'm telling you! 😍
Feeling satisfied, we continued our journey another 400km towards the south! Through the wildest wilderness, along a 70km long gravel road, we drove until it was evening again. By now, we were both hungry again, so we made a quick stop at the supermarket, bought dinner, and then headed to a camping site.
To celebrate the day, we had "burritos", which I completely overindulged in and now I'm lying in bed with a stomach ache! It tasted so delicious!
Greetings from Gin Gin, Australia! 🇦🇺
Your Tim! 😊
