Day 3

Today we said goodbye to Braam and his dream house. After a short stop at the gas station, we headed towards Oudtshoorn. First, we drove through the ugliest town in South Africa (Ashton), as Braam had described, and we can confirm. Then we took a break in Barrydale and treated ourselves to the best milkshake ever at the legendary Diner 'Diesel & Cream'.

We continued on Route 62, where we could admire endless plains and fascinating mountain formations. The road was in good condition. For a while, we drove behind a bus that suddenly made an unusual swerve. Unfortunately, Kosi realized too late why he did that. It wasn't until Corina said 'you just ran over a tortoise' that Kosi realized why the bus did that. Corina also had the luck to observe a wild monkey, which was hanging along a suspension bridge.

Upon arrival in Oudtshoorn, we filled up our tank and water supplies and made our way to the Old Mill Lodge, where we will spend two nights. We are staying in a cabin here, in the middle of a wildlife park surrounded by a pond and lots of greenery - it is wonderful and peaceful here. First, we visited all our animal neighbors - who, ironically, were also on our plates in the evening. Kosi had antelope and Corina had ostrich - the ostrich was better...

Now we are enjoying the rest of the evening and looking forward to tomorrow's adventures.
