No mutiny on the Bounty

Apples everywhere you look!

This morning we started quite late in St. Leonhard. Nevertheless, we treated ourselves to the luxury of programming our navigation system for a "curvy route" towards Lake Garda. With this setting, you move forward quite slowly, but usually far away from busy main roads and get to places where tourists rarely go. Problem: the navigation system is very generous in assessing what counts as a "road". Here, in South Tyrol, our technical masterpiece led us through apple orchards on the tiniest little roads. We now have the feeling that we've seen every damn apple in South Tyrol. We can tell you: the supply of our local supermarkets is definitely secured! After our navigator sent us two or three times on apple ways that ended up in awful donkey tracks, we ended the fruit show and hurried to Riva del Garda as quickly as possible.

From there, we drove on the busy but still impressive Gardesana Occidentale through tunnels and galleries along the western shore of Lake Garda. On the way, we treated ourselves to an espresso stop in a four-star hotel right on the shore. This is what vacation feels like! Wonderful!

A little further on, we left Lake Garda and turned right towards Lake Idro. I have to say: even after 25 years and many motorcycle trips, THAT is still my absolute dream road! Curve after curve, hardly ever 50 meters straight and often very little traffic. An amusement park with 5 loops is nothing compared to it, says Steffi.

Today, as mentioned in the title, there will be no mutiny on the Bounty. Instead, we are staying there. Bounty is also not a ship, but an ice cream parlor in Idro. And this ice cream parlor has rooms. Even our AfricaTwin (nickname "Waltraud") got a dry shelter. To end it all, a hearty AHOI!
