Bye bye Canada, the goodbye was hard for us. We had such a wonderful time and definitely shed some tears.
Before we could continue our trip in the USA, we had to cross the border. I would rather describe it as overcoming. I have to be honest, I haven't felt so insecure and uncomfortable in a long time. For a moment, I really felt like I had to stay in Canada and they wouldn't let me in. First, you have to wait. As if that's not bad enough. Then you are asked questions that you should answer 100% correctly, otherwise you will be suspected. Another point: answering questions correctly. So if someone asks me how long I plan to stay in the USA and I understand how long my trip is in total and I say four weeks instead of one week, that doesn't go over well :D
Furthermore: apples are confiscated. Dear Canadian apples, I still miss you and I'm sorry I didn't have a chance to eat you last minute.
After I had partially recovered from the heart attack, we headed along the beautiful Washington coast towards Seattle, where we were treated to one of the most beautiful sunsets ever. The next morning, I was lucky enough to meet an old friend 'Chase', whom I hadn't seen in years. That was really nice!! Then we headed towards Oregon, along the coast on Highway 101. With such beautiful views of the Pacific, we unfortunately had to stop so often that the drive took us into the darkness. The last three hours were pretty exhausting, but the detour along the coast was definitely worth it. Everywhere, there were small fishing villages with crabs and oysters, small cafes, and colorful little houses. The smell of fish and saltwater, the singing of the cranes, and the seagulls' squawking...I had to close my eyes several times to make myself realize that all of this wasn't a dream :)
Photos will follow!!
