It's raining in the rainforest - or - the lianas grow here the other way around around the trees - namely clockwise

Also very heavy... it started raining during dinner, well we were also on a small campsite in the Daintree NP World Heritage Site, the oldest rainforest in the world. Almost everyone gathered in the kitchen area - or whatever you can call it - just camping 😉 now we hoped that the rain would stop overnight but well what can I say.... The sound was amazing, like in a good documentary. 1 m behind the tent, the area of the forest began, which you can no longer enter without a machete because you can't get through the jungle. Birds, frogs, crickets and unmistakable - the flying foxes plus rain and sleep was exciting :-)

The morning was just as wet and it continued like this, sometimes dry for 30 minutes and then heavy rain again - all day long. So we also learned to pack up the tent when it's wet. Right at the campsite, a bush path started, which we followed after everything was packed - very impressive, to follow the narrow path in the thicket. Lots of water, lots of mud.

Today we took 3 walks. All different but the impressions of the rainforest were very strong and we learned a lot about its inhabitants. Here the rainforest goes all the way to the beach and we had the contrast between beautiful beach, humid mangrove forest and rainforest.

We made a stop at the ice cream factory - in the middle of the rainforest, it is made from the fruits that grow there

When it got dark, many snails and big toads came out in front of our tent today - grateful photo opportunities 😎 tomorrow we will head towards Cooktown.
