Mr. Fü goes James Bond...

ޝާއިޢުކޮށްފައިވެއެވެ: 05.09.2024

Hey there,

After an 11-hour day trip, we have safely returned to the hotel.

The day began once again with an impressive sunrise... I just can't get enough of it.

Then we headed straight for the slopes. Our first destination is Glencoe, Glen Etive, where a famous scene from Bond's Skyfall was filmed, and Mr. Fü absolutely wanted to go there. So... buckled up and let's get the party on the road!

Mrs. Google purrs '1 hour and 7 minutes' in our ear and Mr. Fü accelerates. Finally back towards the Highlands. On the way there, we admired the scenery and agreed: The Highlands are definitely more beautiful than the Lowlands. The Lowlands undoubtedly have their charm, but nothing can compare to the stark, rugged beauty of the Highlands. Therefore, we enjoyed every minute in the Highlands today. The weather was on our side with radiant sunshine and temperatures up to 20° degrees.

Upon arriving in Glencoe, we drove along the single-track road leading to 'Skyfall' and indeed... there it is... the spot where James Bond and M stood, looking towards Skyfall. Unfortunately, we couldn't take many pictures, as parking on the single track is basically prohibited, and it was nearly unbearable outside due to millions of pesky midges targeting anyone who stepped out of the car. They immediately swarmed us, flying into our noses and ears... disgusting. Mr. Fü refused to leave the car and appointed me the Lord of the Flies... so out...click, click, click.... back in. However, we did have some stowaways on board, much to Mr. Fü's chagrin. I explained to him that we made friends outside, and the girls asked for a ride.

Then we moved on... since we hadn't had breakfast, we stopped at a nearby hotel to bring our caffeine levels back to normal. Then we continued to 'The Three Sisters.' I have to say, these ladies impressed me. Beautiful! We sat for a long time at the viewpoint admiring the ladies. Then it was time to move on, as we still had one more destination: the Glenfinnan Viaduct. Aunt Google tiredly explained: 58 minutes and we packed up and set off.

The journey through Fort Williams on the A82 is always an experience. It's always crowded... always. We could vividly recall our other crossings through Fort Williams, and none were good. No matter, eyes closed and through... well, I, Mr. Fü, have to drive.

Upon arriving at the Glenfinnan Viaduct, we immediately found a parking spot... Yippee! and then we first hiked up the wrong hill. So back down and up the other hill. There they were, all the Harry Potter fans. Some were even dressed in Harry Potter attire with long cloaks and wands. I apologize if I don't know much, but I admit that Harry Potter is not really my world. So we all stood there waiting for 'The Jacobite Steam Train'.... and then we heard it and then we saw it. It drove onto the bridge and came to a stop. I assume to 'warm up,' as it then puffed steam and let out a long whistle.... and then it took off. The whole spectacle lasted no longer than maybe 30 - 40 seconds, but the spectators around us were thrilled. There was even applause (no idea why). Then the spectacle was over, and we strolled back down the hill slowly to the car.

Then we decided last minute to pay Kilchurn Castle another visit today. Google Oracle says it will take 1 hour and 43 minutes. Everyone in, Mr. Fü is off.

It was definitely worth it to visit Kilchurn Castle again today. It’s so much more beautiful in sunshine than in the rain :o)) We walked across a sheep pasture and got relatively close. Since the castle cannot be entered currently, we saved ourselves the trip to the other side.

Then on our way to the hotel, we stopped at Ben Lui for dinner and then we were back in Lochearnhead.

The day had a lot going on, but it was absolutely worth it!

We wish you a nice evening... Chì mi thu sa mhadainn (see you tomorrow)
