To anticipate it, we had a beautiful day today, not that yesterday wasn't beautiful too, but today we saw a lot. First, we pass through a hilly landscape with yellow ripe grass, here and there cattle, in the distance medium-high mountains, then we enter the Yarra Ranges NP and the scenery changes. Tall eucalyptus trees, deep gorges, green rainforest, and tree ferns. The road is narrow, we are driving slowly to see a lot. We are heading to Toorongo Waterfall, where there are free camping options, and there we hope to find a spot for the night. And contrary to my fears, there are still plenty of spots available and we settle in. Today we hike again, more challenging, to Toorongo Waterfall and to a pile of rocks that is supposed to look like an amphitheater. It goes steeply uphill, 120 steps support the hike, and we are actually rewarded with a unique waterfall, not with masses of water but with cascades that reach far up into the mountains. We walk through a rainforest with tall eucalyptus trees and many tree ferns. It is difficult to get off the trail here, the forest seems impenetrable.

The water splashes over big and small stones, unfortunately, the water is not clear, the brown earth has colored it, but it doesn't matter, we went swimming in the pool yesterday.

Back at the campsite, we light a fire, everyone does that here. It is supposed to keep the flies away, but they are just waiting for dinner, then they are all back. The hope remains, from 8 pm the flies also go to bed. Tomorrow we are looking forward to the coast or the vicinity. Let's see what the freecamping has to offer.
