Smoky Mountains

Why are the Smoky Mountains called that? Because there are at least 20 campfires burning and smoking non-stop on every campsite. Kind of like TVs that are still on even though no one is watching. No, that would be too cheap. It must be a name derived from the native inhabitants. The cloud formation offers a nice explanation.

We once again slightly missed our destination and ended up in Clinton, 20 miles away from Knoxville, Tennessee. More specifically, in the east of Tennessee, the home of Dolly Parton and Christina Hendricks, the red-haired secretary from Mad Men.

By the way: A nice example of advertising. The perfectly smiling dentist in Bethel near Clinton. Dental practice of the year for five consecutive years in a huge estate. Right across the street from a former customer?
