Today we didn't have to wake up before sunrise. After breakfast, we packed the remaining things and cleaned the motorhome.
Since our flight to Sydney was in the afternoon and the time window for returning the motorhome was from 10 am to 3 pm, we drove to downtown Cairns first. We easily found a parking spot at the wharf. Then we strolled along the waterfront promenade to the Ferris wheel. Unfortunately, the lagoon was closed for maintenance.

Lunch on the beach under the landing planes

At one of the souvenir shops, we found matching holiday t-shirts.
After having lunch at the Esplanade, we drove to the airport. There, we dropped off the kids with the luggage and then returned the motorhome to Cruisin. The return process was quick and easy.

Bye!

We then took a taxi to the airport, as Australian motorhome rental companies do not offer shuttle buses. The flight to Sydney took off on time.

Jetstar takes us from Cairns to Sydney

Unfortunately, there was a 'traffic jam' in the airspace above Sydney, so we had to circle above the city for about 1 hour before landing.

Our luggage arrived promptly. Since the costs for public transport from the airport to the city are quite high due to airport surcharges, we took a taxi to the city. The YHA is located in the city center by the harbor. From the rooftop terrace, you have a great view of the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House.
